Yup, I think the Bat logo should be really powerful and striking, like the logos for "Cats" and "Phantom", as you said, and "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Les Miz". I don't like these new logos like "Spider-Man" and "The Wizard of Oz". I don't know, they feel cluttered to me. And "Love Never Dies" doesn't really have an identity because the logo's always changing, first the death mask, then the Phantom movie ripoff where Christine looks more deformed than the Phantom, hehe, and the Melbourne logo which could have been used for the original, and the recent London advertisement that looks like the cover of a romance novel, and they actually called it "Phantom 2: Love Never Dies".

But "Cats" was the eyes, "Les Miz" was the young Cosette, and "Phantom" was the mask and the rose (originally a gloved hand as well but ALW removed it because he was superstitious about "Jeeves" which had a gloved hand in the logo, and played at the same theatre where "Phantom" opened), and also, "Rocky Horror" with the lips.

I like the one that Meat Loaf used on his 2007 tour, with the splattered blood in the shape of a bat... Yeah, something striking and bold and daring, like that, but way cooler. And then later on you could add all sorts of images. And there's no reason why you couldn't print the original artwork in the programme etc.
