| Just weighing in with my thoughts here, I too find this album addictive. TMIL and HCTB were both disappointing albums for me. I bought HCTB a year ago and I haven’t heard it all the way through more than once. If I played it, it was usually tracks like “Peace on Earth”, “Los Angeloser”, “Song of Madness” and “Elvis in Vegas”, and maybe “Let’s be in love”. And that’s about it. I didn’t even think much of the B sides (“Prize fight lover” was cool but, I dunno, it dragged for me.) So I was sceptical, sceptical but hoping that I was going to be pleasantly surprised. When I heard “All of me” the first time I didn’t know what to think, but I gave it another spin and it was just… strangely addictive (And then it got taken down and I decided to just wait for the album.) I got the album last Friday, turned off all the lights, put the album cover on a slideshow, lay on my bed and just tried to have an experience. And there were only two tracks which I didn’t really like, “Party of One” and “40 Days”. Since then, however, “Party of One” has been growing on me but “40 Days” might be a bit of a lost cause. I’ve currently got “Live or die” or “The giving tree” going round in my head (and at the moment it’s “Giving Tree” and I’m going to have to listen to something else or it won’t stop, GAHHH!) “All of me”, I love that, and I love the intro which also happens to be the outro (“Blue sky”, for me, was really moving. I wouldn’t mind if they played that at my funeral, though obviously I’d prefer something like “For crying out loud” or something Steinman. It just felt really eerie and moving, that very last sequence on the album. Gives me fkn chills now that I think about it. BUT THAT’S JUST ME!!! You might hate it completely.) “Fall from Grace”, another catchy one, “Mad, mad world”, and the rap sounded awesome, same with “Stand in the storm” (I think that’s cool.) “Our love and our souls” is probably the best track on the whole album. “Another day” could be a single. I can picture that. “California dreamin” wasn’t what I was expecting but still cool. And I always light up now when it’s about to play. Honestly, this is how I feel. I played it back to back with “Couldn’t have said it better” which I always liked (Has it been getting a bit of a bum rap lately? I’ve always liked it and my feelings haven’t mellowed over the years. The only tracks I’m not particularly fond of are the two songs, “You’re right, I was wrong” and “Because of you”. I much preferred the B sides to those.) And I feel the same as I felt then. This is, for me, a cool Meat Loaf album but this one is strangely more addictive for me, like listening to some of my favourite albums ever, “Bat out of Hell 2” and Pink Floyd “Dark side of the moon” (That NEVER gets old for me.) I’m not trying to sound like I’m raving. These are just my feelings. I’ve listened to the album four times since Friday and I’m going to be listening to it again in the morning and I hope it doesn’t wear off. I saw “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” about six times, and “Part 2” five times, and there’s a similar feeling with this album. If listening to this album again meant I had to pay for another copy, I can say I’d be willing to do that. Well done, Meat & band. I want this to do well. > Ok got it today, spun it a few times. Not a bad > album.Nothing close to sounding like steinman apart from > the second track"fall from grace" which has a drum and > piano intro that sounds a bit like "candy's room" by > springsteen. > Patti sounds good on the two songs she sings on > Still cant work out why the Usa has to wait till next year > for this album. | |
