Neverland's different. It's his life-work, so to speak. He's been trying to make it happen for over 40 years. Joseph Papp was supposed to do, CBS were supposed to do it, DePalma, Spielberg directing, Bette Midler, Laurence Olivier in the leads, Meat as Tink or Captain Hook, "Bat Out Of Hell 2100", the trademark dispute, etc. etc.
"Tanz" has been staged to great success and it's done very well. The Broadway show was also a hugely painful experience for everyone, I think it would take a lot of time before you return to the scene of that accident.
From my stance, Jim does care about "Tanz" but it's a thing of the past, it's not what's immediate. It's like Lloyd Webber watching all those touring productions of "Superstar", a show he wrote 30 years ago.
