But there was no speech. "God has left the building" was a dance sequence/instrumental like "The Jellicle Ball" from "Cats" and then Michael Crawford would come out at the end in the levitating coffin and say "God has left the building!" which had a really awesome feel to it. You could have thought you were getting more of what he gave us in "Phantom" but then came the Mario voice, "Issa meee!!!"

They ruined the script. It just didn't go with the music any more. It was like combining "The Producers" with "Phantom". It has to be one or the other. The comedy in the original version worked so much better. Also, there was more physical comedy, as opposed to dumb jokes.

Did they mention "The Woman in White"? Crawford got very sick in that show because of the fat suit that he had to wear as part of the costume for Count Fosco. Crawford intriguingly enough, also considering that it was his first show after "Dance", speaks and sings with an Italian accent because Fosco is Italian.
