Manilow

I recall an article in Rolling Stone, around the time Total Eclipse and Making Love were hits, about Jim. It started by saying that Jim had had three trancendental moments in his life, but meeting Barry Manilow was not one of them.

I know that Barry started his music career playing piano for Bette Midler (reportedly in bathhouses in New York). Jim started his career around the sme time, though I don't know if there's a bathhouse connection. I seem to recall Jim saying something about working with, or at least knowing Bette in those early days. I don't recall Jim ever saying anything about knowing Barry.

Were the Read'm & Weep sessions (or the lost Milady sessions) the first time Jim and Barry met, or would they have known each other for years? Do you think they're buds and hang out watching ballgames together?

(If Manilow is a Mets fan, that could be a problem.)
