I'm glad you love De Palma's Carrie. It's one of my favourites. I also love the Kubrick version of The Shining. I love Kubrick. I was surprised when I heard that Stephen King didn't like what Kubrick did and I was even more surprised when he remade it as a TV movie. I can see why he might have had some problems with Jack Nicholson's performance. As you say, the Here's Johnny scene is funny and its meant to be really scary. And, as you point out, Nicholson is Nicholson from the start. He's often a bit potty in a very entertaining way. It's the same when he plays The Joker in Batman. Compare his Joker to Heath Ledger's Joker. BTW, I saw in the thread above that you disagree with Entertainment Weekly's list of top 20 horror films. Do you think the first two Terminator films should be on that list or do they not count as horror?
