Many years ago I had a mate (still do actually!) who had a super audio set up, and I heard the Bat SACD playing. It sounded just the same as listening to the regular CD through decent speakers so a total waste of money. I can't speak about the 5.1 version, but again I don't see the point. How often does anyone listen to music in surround sound?
As to the original question about if the 5.1 mix converted into stereo sounds better than the regular CD version, I would be interested to find out but I'm guessing the answer is no.
