No way to say what may or may not have happened. If Meat had not been such a spectacle on stage and worn himself out by touring the record constantly who knows if "Bat" ever made it? They are seriously a team effort. Meat is the larger than life character and showman but without Jim's words again who knows?

Listen to Meat's early versions of "More Than You Deserve" from the 70's. That voice is a gift and when given Jim's words and music it was an amazing combination. Also there are a few other recordings of Meat doing non_jim stuff back then like "Presence of the Lord" so he was getting recorded in the 70's but I doubt he could have ever really written anything that great and would have been more guitar based especially since he sang with Ted Nugent.

If you get a chance read about Jim and Meat meeting with Clive Davis who told Jim he couldn't write and Meat that he was not singing he was acting ( he mentioned Ethel Merman). While you can't argue with Davis' successes, he totally missed on his assessment of Jim and Meat and missed out on a top 15 of all-time record. Last I looked it was ahead of "Hotel California".
