| Agreed. If Jim's not writing any new songs for this album, I'd still like to hear a few new tunes in addition to 5 - 8 Steinman reconceptualizations. But they should fit in with the Steinman motif, or at least be, um, good. Like, I don't want something like "Do It," "Mad World" or "Runnin' for the Red Light" on there at all, for just a few examples that come to mind. But I'd be fine with a "Modern Girl" or "Sailor to a Siren" type track. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, impact Jim's involvement will have on sales. I'm not sure Meat will move that many more units than his last couple of albums, UNLESS he has that "holy shit what did I just hear" Steinman single of the IDAFL variety. Which, based on the songs that have been floated about as being on this record, I don't think he does. The diehards will love it, but it doesn't sound like its going to be an album that will grab casual fans like Bat II did. Of course, I would love to be wrong about that. > > > The 2 things I hope for is that Jim has final say over > creative control and if other songs are to be used that > Jim would have a strong input as to what gets put next to > his songs, given Meat's frequent choice of some pretty > dodgy stuff. > > If I were a songwriter I'd be thrilled to be on an album > with Jim's songs for sales reasons, but would fear my best > efforts might pale next to a Steinman/Loaf epic. | |
