I saw the film years ago. Grace, a Steinfan friend of mine, did an interview with Throne a few years ago. I lost it in my clean-out but he talked about consulting with Jim about the character and etc. It was really quite interesting.

I can't accept it for many reasons. I know it's difficult to research Loaf and Steinman but if I can do it, high-paid executives can do it. So here are my problems

* Meat Loaf's mother was not a smoker
* Meat Loaf's father died in the 70s not in the 1980s after "Dead Ringer"
* Meat Loaf auditioned for "Souvenirs" at the Public Theatre, New York Shakespeare Festival, where Jim was so amazed he wrote in the character of Rabbit and a song "More Than You Deserve". It was a song that existed before the show and Michael Weller had to write it into the script. "Souvenirs" was changed to "More Than You Deserve" and the rest is history.
* There is no evidence Jim was ever on the set for "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (LOL don't even get me STARTED on Lily's theory ;-)
* They completely dropped "Bad For Good" and made it look like Meat was struggling with "Dead Ringer". Yes, he was. But that's not the point.
* We just presume Steinman's solo successes aren't relevant to the story so they all happened.
* I like Jim playing the intro to "Frying Pan" and describing it like it's King Kong. I can imagine Jim doing that in real life

It was a lot of small mistakes and sloppy research that ruined it for me. I'd pay to see the sequel "To Hell And Back II: The Monster Is Loose" in a Norma Desmond-style "Sunset Boulevard" flick. That would ROCK lol

The workings of a true rock ego out of control. (There is something tragic about Meat. He went through all that psychology in the early 80s about not being a "star". By the late 90s he's accepted he's a "star" because all his contracts and agreements make everyone list him as a "superstar".)
