| Watched this on Saturday night and found it to be quite an entertaining way of passing 80 minutes. I thought that it was relatively well made for a budget production and the actors had captured the characters well, albeit the relationship between Meat and Jim was made to seem overly homoerotic at times with some cheesy lines. The amount of detail that it went into with the early years and Bat out of Hell years made it more noticeable that they just skipped over the next 15 years although what happened to Meat during that time would have made a pretty shit film. It appeared as though Meat's inability to fulfill the demand for a follow up to Bat due to his voice problems happened just before he went back out and toured in the late 80s when actually a significant amount of time had passed. The only real way to tell the passage of time was that if the scene had slightly older actresses playing Amanda and Pearl then it meant time had passed. I would be interested to hear what Jim thought of this film, and especially Zachary Thorne's portrayal of him. I thought it was very good, he looked enough like Jim and had captured his humour well but as the film was ostensibly about Meat the character was never developed beyond a supporting role which was a shame. Perhaps there's still time for a film solely about Jim which would include working with Bonnie, Pandora's Box, Tanz and Dance; what do you think? Who else has seen this film? What do you make of it? | |
