> Does anybody think this has any connection to Jim's "Love > and Death and an American Guitar"/"Wasted Youth"? It's highly likely. Stephen King is big on music. Most of his rants that I've read - which don't involve literature - have involved music in some form. He's also a big time classic rock kind of guy, oldies, and fifties style as well. He also owns several radio stations in Maine, one of which plays classic rock. So it's not improbable that he's unaware of Bad For Good. Though, I'm also thinking it's not definitive either. Think of the character and the buildup and the way the father's voice is constantly tearing the character down and it only makes sense that such a phrase could be used by two disparate figures.
