Of course you are right about that spelling...funny how I got confused, but I had help: See this link LOL!

When I was growing up, I would never have learned that. In my area, people considered hamsters and gerbils interchangeable enough to actually try to put them together. Of course, I never heard about the outcomes. The only thing I think I learned of the two was that hamsters were larger than gerbils. I of course know you were making an analogy and I appreciated that straight off, but because the differences were so subtle, I was not sure of what you meant by it. Now it is more clear.
