On Google, "NJC acronym" yields the result coming up first from an internet mailing list called and this text in the instructions to their participants of yore as this page has not been noted as updated since November of 2000:

Do use the NJC acronym in the beginning of the SUBJECT of your post, if it is basically one with No Jewel Content. It's just an EDA courtesy to those on this list that may not have the time to wade through posts that don't deal with Jewel. (Some members even use email software like Eudora Pro or Pegasus to 'filter out' NJC)

However, this actually has reference to the recording artist called Jewel, as opposed to any particular internet board, topic, termininology, etcetera. Some have analogized it to the application of gemstones and their worth in comparison to the worth of on-topic or off-topic posts. But, as this quote from the same page shows, it is just concerning the female recording artist Jewel:

One final note on NJC. The acronym of NJC is not a free liscense to post anything to the list. Generally a post has to either deal with Jewel or her creations (music, poetry etc) in some manner, inquiries about her creations, the ever popular and common "EDA Gatherings", Living Room Tours (LRTs), similar artists the list has seemed to have _____, Steve Poltz news and well.....you'll get the feel for it if you just sit back and lurk for a while :-)

Concerning the use of NJC, my first impressions on this board were a bit confused, because of the initials in reference to the real name (please do not flog me) of our adored Jim Steinman, and we don't even use the adapted acronym of NJSC, which adds a letter of specificity. For those who like to think of divine concerns, who say that NJC is "Not Jesus Christ" I say, thump on a bible, but leave us out of it.

I like it when I see such things as "OT" for "Off Topic", or "OC" for "Other Content". But, NJC does have some limitations and history not having anything to do with netiquette as such or the Rockman Record.
