I dunno, it doesnt place itself in any specific time (other than someone using a cell phone, but then again dick tracy always had a wrist video thing). its not as gothic as you might like but its more faithful to the comics and is just a good movie to boot. and the jokers not in it, its scarecrow and rhaz al ghul. but its certainly not crap any way you slice it.
