| I haven't written anything on this board in ages. Probably a few years. I hope there's still somebody who remembers me. I was quite active here from the beginning until 2002 or so. I also hadn't really read this board in ages. And when I decided to go to Berlin for a holiday, I didn't know that Tanz der Vampire was being performed there. Then at an underground station I saw a whole corridor advertising Tanz. It even played a bit of music. I thought that I need to see the show. I tried to get a ticket. And I didn't get one. I was very disappointed and I still am. I feel like a bad Steinman fan. I want to go back to Berlin and see Tanz there but I don't have enough money to do that. I did go to opera in Berlin. I went to see Die Freischütz by Weber. I like that opera and would love to see a really fairytale like production of it. This wasn't one. This was a modernized version taking place at a party. I have seen good and bad modernized opera productions. This one was bad. In the most embarassing scene one of the characters danced disco during her aria. And I really don't know why there were people dressed like monkeys onstage. But it would have been watchable unless there hadn't been really stupid lighting. It made my head and eyes ache. I left during the intermission. This may sound like I had a bad holiday in Berlin. Mostly I had a good time though. I bought some interesting CD's and DVD's: some Bowie, Nico, Miranda Sex Garden, Wagner and Verdi. | |
