I didn't show you that link to prove L. Frank Baum was racist. The matter was much more complicated than that. The way our society looks at it today, he must be racist. Back then, he was desperately trying to write filler in a news journal. He didn't believe anything he was saying. Plus it was all embedded in the culture etc etc etc. It's just like drugs and smoking nowadays... it's totally seen differently.

I also don't know whether Jim is racist, I think the examples you have made are just a character in a musical or a song speaking. I don't think that's Jim. Anyway, he has worked with a lot of people who are African-American (I hate using any of these terms) going back to Andre DeShields in "Rhinegold" and "Bloodshot Wine"

The musical community Jim was working in at the time wouldn't have been toleratant toward racism or any other exclusions. I mean, come on, Off-Broadway, "Hair", "A Chorus Line", "More Than You Deserve" for heaven's sake
