Are we all living in the past?

Forgive me if this a little disjointed, but it's an idea that came to me while replying to Bright Eyes post below.

Seems to me that Steinfans, possibly more than any group of fans on the planet, live in the past. We want to hear demos of old songs, live in hope that Rheingold or Neverland might see the light of day with clean recordings, discuss what songs we'd like to have seen Meat and Jim recycle on Bat 3 etc etc...

With The Dream Engine project, a lot of the discussion centred around what songs should they record from Jim's past works. We know the Bat musical will be near enough 100% recycled material but we beg for news of it.

Has Jim succeeded in brainwashing all of us? Are we now so used to the recycling of old material that we expect it, look forward to it, would even be disappointed if it didn't happen?

What other songwriter has so consistently plundered his own archives to produce "new" material? (remember The Dream Engine promised 'new lyrics' to old songs amoungst it's other grandoise claims).

Final question - do we care?
