| I can see that if you over-analyze the lyrics, and just the lyrics, without listening to the music or singing, how you might come to that conclusion. But I'm a firm believer that when Jim writes a song, he's telling a story, and the person singing is telling the story from their perspective i.e.Male or Female. I personally can't analyze a section of lyrics and disregard everything else that's happening and come up with it being gender-confusing. The music, the lyrics, the emotion it's sung in, is all part of the story Jim is telling. You take one or two parts of that equation away, then for me, it doesn't work. That's why IACBTMN never worked with Meat Loaf singing it, because Jim purposely recorded it twice with 2 different females singing the part, because the story he's telling is from a females perspective. And that's why Total Eclipse is and will always be sung from a female's perspective, Jim chose it that way, and with that in mind, I just don't see it as gender confused. > because in a lot of the lyrics I can find both the male > and female perspective and it is not always clear to me > which part is which in this duet... > > hence gender confused... it could be both... it's almost > as if the song itself isn't sure it's coming from a male > or female perspective... > > > > > In a way... this is the most gender confused song ever... > > > > How can it be? it's clearly for the most part a duet of > > sorts and you clearly have the female singing her parts > > and the male singing his.
