But I'm a firm believer > that when Jim writes a song, he's telling a story, and the > person singing is telling the story from their perspective > i.e.Male or Female. The idea I was proposing was that maybe Jim wrote it from a male perspective and then gave it to Bonnie, reworking the lyrics. Something he may have been coming up with and thought it would be a great song for a newer singer, happens to be female. I really don't know that much about his recording experience with Bonnie. It does work best from a female perspective and vocal. But imagine if the track had come out with Meat on vocals and a female backing, never having a Bonnie Tyler recording at all. Would it even be questioned? And that's why Total > Eclipse is and will always be sung from a female's > perspective, Jim chose it that way, and with that in mind, > I just don't see it as gender confused. Nevermind the Westlife track, which is horrid and completely misses the point of the song. I often wonder if Totale Finsternis was used because it was closer to Jim's original intentions of the song, or if it just fit nicely. | |
