My two cents.

I saw the dubbed one, but unless the French language cut had scenes in which the characters talked about how ridiculous the movie (or, excuse me, "le movie") was, then I highly doubt it could have been any better.

It was a good, effective, scary film until the ending which made no sense, could not have been guessed at, and did nothing but ruin the rest of the movie.

Worst scene in the movie:

The killer-girl was in the back seat of the truck, speaking with her friend, who seemed terrified of her, but could not speak because of a gag. Now, if this entire thing was a hallucination--her being in the back of the truck at all--then why was her friend afraid of her in the hallucination? She should have behaved like she was being rescued.

Now, if being in the back of the truck wasn't a hallucination, and the killer-girl was actually in the back, then WHO WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK?!

Roger Ebert made a tacit reference to this in his review, deeming it a hole "that is not only large enough to drive a truck through, but in fact does have a truck driven right through it."

Eh.
