I don't even know why really, it just has something that really excites me - it's so different from the quintessential Steinsongs, yet it still shines out as a Steinsong every time I hear it. I don't dislike Rob's version by the way, it just doesn;t excite me in the same way. I also understand Ryan's point about the lyric change (sorry, answering a few posts in one here to save me typing), but the political refrence to USA is rather specific - by that I mean it makes perfect in the context of Batman, but the whole ethos of the song can apply to many (most?) countries around the world - the whole owner v worker or have v have not dynamic. Anyways, interesting to read other peoples views about the Steinsongs on TMIL. I was kinda not around the board during the aftermath of its release, so I formed my opinions on them in isolation, with no other Steinman fans to discuss them with. Seems I've grown fond of the ones that the rest of the Rockman hate most! | |
