I found Jesus last night

Went to see Jesus Christ Superstar staring Ted Neely (Jesus from the motion Picture for those who don't know)Ted was amazing for being 65 years old He can still do what some of his contempararies can't. However the direction was awful. The director totally missed the point of the whole show. He had made Jesus into some type of diety that spent all his time loving the adoration of the people and conversing with God. Almost everything from the Blocking to the character's portrayals was directed so wrong that the show came off very amateurish. A shame because Ted's portrayal in the film was spot on perfect.

Afterwards we got to meet Ted and he was the nicest celebrity I've ever met. He had a large group waiting to talk to him and he made time to spend personal time with every one of them. I told him that I had a version of him singing "Come in the night/How do you bury the skull of your country" on my website which surprised him... everyone who talks to him seems to think he has only played Jesus his whole life.

We talked about Jim Steinman. He told me how Jim was there with so many of them from that time from the begining with Hair and how Jim was a true genius. He mentioned how many of Jim's shows there are that are brilliant that no one has seen. He talked about how Jim's work is so good that some day it has to be heard.

He mentioned that he saw Dance of the vampires and that it was a good show that was handled all wrong. I asked if he saw the German version and he said "No" he had only seen the American version. I told him how the original version was a perfect show directed by Polanski.

He then talked about how Jim had been brought in to do the lyrics for WDTW. Saying how so many people realize his talent and want to work with him. I told him about our production of Conficence Man and he said that more people ned to get Jim's work out there. We talked about much more, but I thought I'd share what he had to say about Jim...
