I have a Ted story too!
A really good old friend of mine met him last year. I specifically remember this because it was mum's 50th and we were setting up. All of a sudden, I get a call from the United States and my friend's waiting in line. He's just spoken to Ted people's and I'm about to get the chance to speak to him on the telephone. I'm a big fan of his talent, through "Jesus Christ Superstar" and his work with Michael Rapp ("Ulysses" and "Rasputin".)
Right as I'm about to speak to him, walking around in the back garden, the phone goes dead. I'm like, standing there on the line, anxiously awaiting an hello. And I hear an engaged tone. I was like, top 10 biggest eye-roll of my life!
Finally, I got a signed program of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in the mail saying "Hi Ryan, good luck with everything, and I hope to perform in Australia one day." They got a chance to speak about me for a while, I recall, but my friend had wanted to meet him for years. Apparently there's some sort of divine aura around this guy. It's completely unexplainable, especially on a forum, but a lot of people have commented on this and he's, yeah, just an awesome person in general.
Awesome you got to speak with him!
