Bette Midler never did a demo of "Heaven Can Wait". Jim wanted her to record it on her second album. Jim would have known Bette from the Bathhouses where he and Barry Manilow were accompanists. Alaina Reed was the first singer to perform "Heaven Can Wait" which probably dates all the way back to 1972. "For Crying Out Loud" was originally a woman's song as well. According to Barry Keating who directed its performance in the cabaret "Bloodshot Wine".

I don't think it was disappointing at all. I think it was typical Steinman pretensious loudness that it DID exceed budget. I know it's a much more enjoyable album than Bat I.

I always wanted a Dead Ringer remake from the fans. There are loads of Pink Floyd fan tribute/remake albums, but nothing from Steinman.

Meat Loaf told me on MLUKFC that it came before the strokes. But that's just Meat Loaf....? Right....?
