I'm not familiar with his work. Roy Thomas Baker (just in case you didn't know) did "A Night At The Opera" for Queen, which is the only album that has come close to achieving what "Bat Out Of Hell" did (and vice versa) and "One Way Ticket To Hell And Back" for The Darkness. Awesome, awesome albums, IMHO, and he would have done interesting work, considering the darker tone of the Steinman songs.

I still don't understand why Todd didn't produce. It makes sense that if Jim couldn't or wouldn't get involved, Todd would step in. There are fans who don't think "Back Into Hell" is a true sequel because Todd didn't produce and it was, basically, Steinman's vanity project. In turn, those fans could have settled for a Rundgren conclusion with as little involvement from Steinman as possible.

The covers would have been fine. Anything would have been better than those God-damned, God-forsaken non-Steinman songs that wouldn't get as far as a bat out of hell (instead, they'd be rolling around in Dante's Inferno in the ninth circle of hell?)
