There are some things that film just cannot capture and I think this will be 1 of them. Meat has said that when they did 'the rounds' with BAT they had to do it live in front of the executives because a recording jus wouldn't capture what they was doing. Recent musicals that have been put down on film have never been true 100% of where they came from i.e. Phantom and more recently mama mia. Don't get me wrong still good 'films' (kind of) but do they capture what has gone on before in the theatre???

On a money note, people are going back to the theatre (uk) because of TV programs like, how do you solve a problem like Maria (1 bullet will do it, lol), any dream will do and the recent Nancy. Think I read somewhere that takings are up sommert like 30 odd % in the west end. Also you are more likely to get as close to 100% return investment because there is little or no piracy and copying. Movie wise, a film can be downloaded in 20 mins and you will prob not go to the cinema to watch it. Then because you already have it on your pc you might not bother buying the DVD or again you might just download it.

As for directors I don’t think those you mentioned will be right at all with maybe the exception of Jackson.
Here is my list

Del Toro - Has his own style, did Pans Labyrinth and is gonna be doing the hobbit for the next 4 yes 4 years.

Len Wiseman - Is responsible for the Under world franchise and is down for Gears of War which Beattie is also doing.

Tarsem - This guy did a film called The Fall. A great looking and obscure film!!

John Madden - Shakespeare in Love, Mrs Brown and has his own way of story telling

Joel Schumacher - Phantom, lost boys. Again some1 with their own style and look.

AND what about

Polanski - You all know this guy and recently a film/documentary called Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired was put out. Worth a look!!!!

ciao for now
