Yes, let us pretend that Meat Loaf never existed or that once upon a time he possessed a voice that Jim saw fit to make his muse. Let's pretend that Bat Out Of Hell never happened, that it never sold untold amounts of vinyl and that Meat's voice had anyting to do with it. Let's carry on in our little bubble believing that Jim would have been huge without Meat - after all Neverland and Dream Engine and More Than You Deserve had been massive theatrical hits before Meat came along hadn't they? And, of course, Bonnie Tyler heard of Jim through his muaicals, as did Air Supply, and they were both amazed to learn that Jim had written s few tunes for the fat lad as well. And Celine Dion was a huge fan of the nihilistic world view of Das Rheingold before she ever knew Jim had written some Meat Loaf albums. And of course, Pandora's Box was made because Virgin Records really, really liked the lyrics for "The Confidence Man". After all, the fat lad had nothing to do with Jim's success at all. Perish the thought that anyone on this messageboard would actually ackonowledge Meat's part in anything. | |
