The difference was that was when they decided to become a band with Jim in charge and planned to release an album And as you've pointed out (thanks for proving > my point) the list of songs on the TDE website are all old > ones, which makes them basically a cover band, which is > the same thing as OTT. I meant old to us. They list WPOMBHTM, Still the Children, Only When I Feel, Not Allowed To love, Always It's The War... old to us, but technically not a cover band. > Since when did Amy Winehouse have charisma? She's a skinny > crack whore singing about being a skinny crack whore, > nothing charismatic about that. That was my point... as with the Talent of Brittney comment... I was being sarcastic. > > If he had had a hit with WPOMBHTM...LOL hypothetical > nonsense. He wouldn't have had a hit with it because a) > It's not a chart friendly song b) Rob is only a semi-known > Broadway talent and bigger Broadway names and talent have > struggled in the charts. It could easily be as Chart friendly as Total Eclipse or Anything for Love... and Meat was a less known Broadway Talent when Steinman turned him into a hit. > And you know this because you have some psychic link with > Jim? seems a bit Susanesque. No, I said it is my theory based on the evidence we have. And knowing Jim if he had news songs he would be pimping them instead of pushing Batman and DOTV songs as "new" > Your theory is flawed and is based on personal opinion and > not evidence at all. > Not all strokes are the same and not all recoveries from > strokes are the same. Several people who've seen Jim in > person said he's doing fine and I believe JD said that > he's had to learn to play the piano all over again but > he's getting there. People who've met him say he's fine, but these are his fans. I met him... he seemed good, but not the same as pre stroke. I understand he's recovered more than that since then. I hope it's true. I hope he is playing again. In fact Ray told me he thought Jim was... I just won't believe it until I hear some proof. I can't believe Jim is still recycling so much if he can still compose new material. And as for JD... I don't think she would honestly tell us if Jim were struggling, do you? > Whatever new songs Jim has had written since or before the > stroke it's obvious he didn't want to waste them on Rob > Evan and TDE, so we'll have to wait till BOOH:The Musical > comes out. Sounds like you are the one speaking from bias with no proof. Jim was, at one point, really behind TDE and pushing it very hard... and I don't think Jim thought he was wasting anything on Rob... to be honest Jim doesn't have the clout to choose his singers. He didn't want to give Read Em And Weep to Manilow, but it was the biggest name he could sell the song to. Unfortunately Jim's day has passed in the Music biz... at least for now. > > I do get the sense though that Jim might be putting all > his eggs in one basket again, lets just hope they don't > get scrambled. I think this is the only thing Jim can get backing on. No one wants to give Jim another shot at an album or a Brodway show. Bat is a hit so they are willing to take a chance on it as a West End Musical... maybe. I love Jim, I think he is the greatest composer that has ever lived, but I'm just looking at things honestly. Whistle and DOTV were flops in the states, he can't get a backing. He has a reputation in music that no one wants to work with him. He hasn't written anything new that anyone can prove since Warner shut down Batman. It is sad. I hope Bat is a success for him... more importantly I hope it is an artistic success more than I hope it is a financial one. But I'm not going to be a fanboy who believes he is furiously writing new music. His posts basically talked about how he could recycle all of his old songs and shoehorn them into Bat Musical. | |
