I've more or less finished writing another one (this time for Batman), and I think it's better than 'Ribbons'.

As soon as I can demo it (when I have the funds), I will post to RR.

No problem.

I understand what you're saying, and it is a difficult one. As a general rule I do believe guns do NOT belong in the hands of the 'general public'.

I'm perhaps blinkered in my thinking, living in the 'safe' UK, and maybe my views would alter if I lived elsewhere in the world.

No, I'm more a live & let live, peace, love & understanding kind of guy with no real political assertions (apart from firearms which is a bugbear of mine).

I'm all for the individual's rights, it was more a comment on how it's rammed down our throats by the 'individual' and the 'do-gooders'..' 'I have the right to do this, I have the right to do that'. Yeah all right, get on with it, but I don't wanna hear you whining about it.

I absolutely believe it. There are too many 'do-gooders' in the world claiming criminals are 'misunderstood' and working on their behalf, too many judges swallowing the bullshit, and too many criminals laughing at the system's leniancy.

True story example - I know of a prolific house burglar who was arrested by the local Police 37 (thirty-seven)times in 18 months, either actually committing the crime, or a short time after with evidence (so the Police were doing there job).

The first step in the UK is to put Mr X before a Magistrates Court to see if the crime is serious enough to be dealt with at Crown Court, and also whether bail is appropriate.

Almost every time the magistrates would state 'this is your last chance Mr X' and give him bail. Whilst out on bail Mr X would commit more burglaries, and back before the magistrates he would go, who would say 'this is your last chance Mr X' and then more bail, and so on and so on.

This goes on every day of the year in the UK, and most magistrates (so called intelligent & respected members of the local community, volunteering their time) are a joke.

When he was eventually convicted at Crown Court Mr X would normally be sentenced on 2 or 3 burglaries and have the other 30 or so offences 'taken into consideration', which is a bollocks statement, and something the legal system does to save time and money.

The biggest sentence he ever got was 2 years, of which I think he served about 9 months inside (time-off for good behaviour).

I know from speaking with him that he was amazed at how many chances he had been given over the years and how farcical the system was. He said the only thing that would put him off would be something like a 10 year stretch.

There are far too many 'do-gooders', too many 'out-of-touch' judges and too many leniant senteces.

No, as a point of principal guns should be banned full stop, regardless of what service we get from the Police.

God forbid, but if someone breaks into your house late at night then do what you feel is right...run, smash him over the head with the rolling pin, grab the kitchen knife and stab him. I even condone killing someone if your life is threatened.

I just don't think guns should be involved.

Well Police (on occasions) do prevent crimes happening, and even stop crimes as they are being committed.

Strict gun control would make a big difference, but it needs to be done in conjunction with a 'zero tolerance' policy by the Police everywhere (I heard it's worked wonders in New York), more Police, more prisons, stiffer sentences from the courts, and 10 years inside meaning 10 years inside (bollocks to parole).

Incidentally Smeg, if you think guns are an absolute right & necessity to protect yourself, do you have one, and if not, why not?
