I really think you are doing the fans a diservice, most people who bought the album realise that Jim wrote it, what was the quote "he's got my voice" so initally it wasn't meat the persona it was the voice.
Lets face it meat sang BOOH because that was the sound that Jim wanted, in the same way that Jim used, lets say Rory Dodd/Bonnie Tyler because they delivered the sound that he wanted to complete his vision.
The album has sold enough over the years and has a huge fanbase, that'll put bums on seats.
I don't know about the USA or other countries but rock fans in the UK are more that aware of Jim Steinman is the man behind bat.
Yep make meat a part of it, he ain't got a singing voice as witnessed by the recent tours, so maybe a narration role, or selling ice creams during the interval.
I do think if you put meat on stage singing the critics will tear it apart.
