| Joining the club of agreeing people! We do need a new cast cd! Jan is such a great Von Krolock and we need the 'Braver then we are'-version on cd. We do! If you are near Oberhausen in the next ten months or so, go and see it. Let me try to tell you what I remember from Tuesday's cast: Jan Ammann as Von Krolock. He's got the voice (classical but with a raw sound if needed) and the acting. I believed him from the very first moment he opened his mouth. "Thank God! He's good!" It's a real pleasure to hear someone sing Gott ist Tot or Die Unstillbare Gier like that. Thomas Borchert could also do that (and I love him too). The great thing about that for me is that I can totally focus on the song and story without this lurking fear it could go wrong at any time. ;) If you don't get Ammann as Von Krolock, you get Kevin Tarte. I can't tell you anything about him, cause I haven't seen him as Von Krolock. Nele-Liis Vaiksoo as Sarah. Oh... very good. If not her, than Anne Hoth. Saw her in Berlin Derniere and that's a very good Sarah also! Gernot Kranner as Abronsius. There's no need for reviewing him is there? ;) Krisha Dalke as Alfred. Although I'm not that fond of the sound of his voice (I'd like a little bit more warmth in it for an Alfred), he sure does a great job... after five minutes I completely forgot I didn't like his voice! He totally went for it, became Alfred and you can't help but love him. I felt like he was the only castmember (except for maybe Von Krolock) who was there and awake from the very first moment the music started. Yes, this might sound a bit strange. I felt they had a little bit of trouble starting up. One of the first shows, no real routine, still trying to find out about the timing of some parts. I kinda felt nerves from the stage coming towards me. And after Gott ist Tot, suddenly, it all seemed to go more fluently. Fascinating. Naturally, I've been wondering if I felt like this just because it was ME who had to be taken into the story? (Had a long day of train travel and walking around Oberhausen) :) Jerzy Jeszke as Chagal. He's good. Personally I don't really like the way he's sings his solo Eine schone tochter ist ein segen, but for the rest: only positive! He's funny in his movements and that makes you laugh at the right times. Linda Konrad as Magda. Must be a great role to play. Has a powerful voice and she did a good job. "The dance tonight? Chagal, you'll never get in!" "Why not?" "Gesichtscontrolle" Florian Fetterle as Herbert. Pleased with his voice. Not as funny as Haldor Laegreid (In Berlin) but after he playes Herbert a couple of times, he might get to throw a little bit more of himself in it. He did have this very strong entrance after the ...ist mein Son, Herbert... He said nothing, he sang nothing, but still, his presence alone made people laugh. There was a promise there that I feel, one day, should lead to a great Wenn Liebe in dir ist. Then again, what do I know about theater? ;) Stefan Budenbender as Koukol. Seen him twice in Berlin also and he's still funny. Heike Schmitz as Rebecca. I felt she was good, but there's always so much going on while Rebecca's performing that I tend to forget about following her part. :S Then: The ensemble pieces! Those remain brilliant. Honestly, the ensemble pieces are even better live cause it's more direct, it's more overwhelming. And the dancing, well... obviously better live cause that's something you need to see. I do agree with Ali on the finale. There was something missing. Overall the decors / sets: I keep loving it! Lyrics, must be good! Made me see the beauty in the German language. And oh! Did I tell you people about the music, yet? Huh? O, you already know about that. Well, it's just so great hearing it live. I honestly don't really care that much for Bonnie's Total Ecplise of the Heart anymore. It's good but I love Totale Finsternis. And Die Unstillbare Gier, The Storm and all the rest of the music. Cause for me it's like this music finally found it's destination in Tanz. Where it can be at it's very best and shine. In a theater where it tells a story about Vampire. And... Okay, I better stop my ramblings and leave you people alone. ;) By now it's probably clear I loved it. Alone in my hotel room I couldn't sleep until 3 am. Just not willing to go to sleep and acknowlegde the day was over. Want to go again! Even though I've now seen it... wait, let me count my cast listings... five times in the last 18 months. ;) Sandra Sharing the always great moments: The very first note Gott ist Tot Einladung zum Ball Starker als wir sind Ich bin ein Judischen Vampire Finale First Act Finale First Act the last Von Krolock sentence, the music building up, Von Krolock closing the door, and last note of music --- Truly magical moment for me! Totale Finsternis Carpe Noctem Wenn Liebe in dis ist Ewigkeit Die Unstillbare Gier Sarah getting bitten by Von Krolock (naturally... that's the moment we're all fearing, all want to see) Nein, nein!
