They abandoned the Savatage project partly because Criss Oliva died in a car accident, but mostly because the "side project" TSO became much more successful. There were rumors of a return with the remaining members, but Jon Oliva said he would rather continue with Jon Oliva's Pain and TSO because Savatage was costing more money than it was taking in. The Savatage MySpace leaves the question open, though.
