I'm kind of torn on this one. I don't think a singer Meat's age is going to set the charts ablaze in today's world. Sure an older singer occasionally charts a CD but it is usually something like Barry Manilow's or Rod Stewart's oldies collections, or maybe a mega name like Springsteen. Hit singles are even fewer.
That said, Jim does not seem to be doing anything that we know of with the few (again that we know of) "new" tunes he has. I do think Meat could get a lot of exposure for a song like "Body" for example without having to depend on radio's limited playlists. For exapmle Jay Leno is going to be on in prime time every night of the week this fall and Meat could probably get on there pretty easily, throw in some touring and other tv shows and he could get the song out there.
Having said all this, I don't really want a new Jim song without hearing Jim's vision of it. As we all know that would take longer than Meat would want to wait and I doubt Cavullo would want a Jim produced track on a disc with his. I like the idea that has been floated of a cover but I think Meat is going a for a little different sound this time - I don't see Cavullo doing Jimitation. If they were going for a Jim cover I'd re-do Loving You's A Dirty Job as a duet with Patti. I suppose this is much said about nothing since I put the odds of a Jim song being used as close to nil.
