| Hmmm... there's a few points I'd like to address before I quit helping people defiling Jim's messageboard with all this crap that has been flying around... First off... though my topic title might have suggested I was compairing what Polanski did to minor shoplifting, that was not the effect I was going for and I want to elaborate on that. My point was merely that the guy made a mistake 31 years ago and still pays for that mistake even though the people involved have all been begging to the courts for dismissing the case and leaving him be. The other side of that point was that I hate it when you make one (relatively small) mistake, and people continue to hold that against you for all eternity. That having sex with a minor while you are an adult isn't the smartest thing to do is no secret. That it is, or has since been made, illegal, is also no secret. And let us not forget that practically every director or producer seems to have a reputation of having sex with (potential) actors/singers in order to 'get them a part' has always been a part of Hollywood. Granted, the fact that everyone does it doesn't make it right, but why go after this one guy when the others continue to get away with it?? This is not a defense for what Polanski did, but if anything an attack on the inconsistensy of the legal systems in Western societies. This was 31 years ago (yes, 1978, I know, I was born in that year)... that means that the man who made the mistake no longer exists?? I assume he has learned from his mistake and grown as a person since he has no reputation of a 'repeat'... and I find it a horrible thought that the things we do can bite us in the ass for such a long time afterwards, regardless of our remorse and improvement as a person. AND PLEASE NOTE: Anything I have said in regards to the Polanski case revolves around the Polanski case. I have no idea who Gary Glitter even is... and sure as hell would not compare Polanski or what he did to OJ Simpson or Michael Jackson (who in my opinion was completely innocent.)or anyone else for that matter. Thank you. Secondly... Steven_Stuart... I don't care what list I am on with you, I don't care if you would print out my advice and wipe your ass with it... I don't care whether you continue to post here or not... I honestly don't care one bit about anything you do... except for the fact that you are dragging me (and Jim by doing it here) down in the dirt with you and I happen to like this place and a lot of people on it. So would you please stop kissing my ass because I once said something not completely mean to you and leave my name out of all your dirty crap?? Seriously dude, I don't care about your issues... I have my own... and at least I TRY not to dump them on you here... Third of all... I have to say that this board and its members are starting to have the effect on me that Dave, Pud and Smeg have been warning about for a while now. Part of me is really ready to not only stop posting here, but to say goodbye to my 22-year lasting obsession with Jim's music because I hate the idea of being associated with all the shit going on here... Really... if this is the kind of people Jim and his music attract and rejoice in... than perhaps I should admit that I have finally done what no Jim-fan can afford to do... namely grow up and outgrow all this childish shit... Klasien... Wondering if this is when she moves out of Never-Neverland... | |
