I remember a kind of marketing video that came out around the time of (I believe) the Albert Hall show a couple of years ago where Notion was used to augment the live band (with synthesised orchestra instruments)

I also noticed that during the X-Factor last year (don't ask me why I was watching that... morbid curiosity I guess :p) when the contestants sung at the very start of the show and were a little too pitch perfect... this could have been a backing track but I doubt they would have been THAT good at lipsynching!

My point? Well, that audio processing software has got VERY sophisticated in the last few years without making everyone sound like Peter Frampton's Amazing Singing Guitar, although in some genres it remains the dominant vocal paradigm. The tools are there to provide Meat with a better live voice, although I can understand why he might resist using them.
