To me, the ultimate absurdity of bleeping profanity is this: when a person hears a song, or watches a movie or TV show and they hear a bleeped out word, what happens? They think: hmmm. A word was just bleeped out. I wonder what it was? "Fuck", probably. But maybe it was "ass." Or perhaps "cunt," or "cocksucker." Probably not "bitch," though, because that's more or less okay to say.

By censoring the word, you've caused the listener to pay greater attention to that one quick spot in the song, and then actively consider what dirty word it was that they didn't just hear, thereby exposing them to a greater level of profanity than if they'd just not censored the word in the first place.

Its lunacy.
