| Interesting read. Sounds like Desmond Child and Allen Kovich were calling (most of) the shots on Bat 3? Too many 'guests' on the record (as with HCTB). Should have ALL the songs demoed/arranged before entering the expensive studios, and then stick with a core 4/5 piece band to lay down the basic tracks. Would like to hear the amount Jim was originally offered to produce (seven figures??). Also would have made some sense for Jim to come on board and (just) write/produce the lead single. Could have made a big difference to the sales. Meat is right in saying 'Blind As A Bat' would have made a good lead single. Releasing a cover was not the way to go, and it really does make you wonder who is running record labels nowadays. IF Jim and Meat ever do another Bat project they should firstly spend as much time as necessary selecting the songs. Meat should then allow Jim carte blanche to produce and only THEN approach a record label with the completed package. I'm sure Jim and/or Meat could self-finance the recording until a record label came on board, and this way there is no interference in the creative process. | |
