| Wolf, at the risk of getting myself into trouble with certain board members, I am starting a new thread to continue the film discussions. Our posts are way down the page and we seem to be the only two reading them. Its not really a new thread, its a continuation of your highly successful favourite films thread. I would really appreciate it if all the people who contributed to that thread could also contribute to this continuation. Also, I am posting the link to your film at the bottom of this page and I hope that others will review it in the way that AndrewG did. Anyway, sorry for being long winded as usual. Below is my response to your latest films post. > The Dark Knight is a far superior film to Burton's Batman, > mostly because of Heath Ledger's awesome performance as > the Joker. > > I was talking about Adrian Brody and the main actress from > King Kong (Who's name has escaped me) are really quite > poor. Jack Black's okay but he really is a poor man's Meat > Loaf in my opinion. Yes. Heath Ledger was awesome in The Dark Knight. I have never seen anything quite like it. I wonder if the idea for the Joker's look was Heath's own idea. I'm not sure how to describe it. More messy? More menacing? To me his acting in that scene where Batman starts to beat him up in the police station has to be one of the greatest acting jobs of all time. To expand on our favourite films discussion, perhaps we could talk about favourite film performances. What about Brando in The Godfather and Apocalypse Now? That reminds me, surely Francis Ford Coppola deserves a possible best director mention. Has someone already suggested him? The actress in King Kong was Naomi Watts. Apparently her dad was Pink Floyd's sound engineer (sounds like a really cool job to me). Its interesting that you talk about Jack Black being a poor man's Meat Loaf. The BOOH people are quite interested in him for obvious reasons. I'm not sure if he would do a show. He's probably very expensive and out of the question. Oh well. It might have been fun. Maybe if there is a film, sometime way in the future. Can you think of another actor who could take Meat's place in the way Jack Black could? Is there another famous actor that you would compare to Meat? Even if the comparison is not entirely positive. Oh, are there any films of musicals that you like? In another thread I noticed that Ted Neeley (who played Jesus in the film of "Jesus Christ Superstar") was Meat Loaf's back up singer for Meat's 1981 tour. > > > Problem with Burton is that he creates all these surreal > > > worlds and characters, but doesn't give the audience a > > > real protagonist we can experience it all through. > > > > That's a very good point. > > > > > I don't > > > think I need to go into how bad his two Batman films are, > > > > Did you think "The Dark Knight" was much better than > > Burton's Batman films? > > > > > I haven't seen his Pee Wee film, but may well do if the > > > opportunity arises. > > > > Pee Wee was very talented.
