"I'm not sure if that had anything to do with Jim's fans, but that's an interesting thought. But then, where were Jim's fans when "Midnight at the Lost and Found" and "Blind Before I Stop" were released? He never did anything to hurt Jim then. Indeed, as early as "Blind Before I Stop", they were talking about recording Bat 2."

But you have to remember, although Meat had a fanbase before, it wasn't really consistent until after Bat 2. I say that on the basis that Welcome to the Neighborhood and, to a lesser extent, Couldn't Have said It Better Myself were hits. I think the fans Meat gained after his Bat 2 come back must have stayed with him until they heard Bat 3. I'm sure there's more to it then that but I think a lot off where Meat is in terms of his career atm is down to TMIL.

"Hmm, I don't believe that. I think there was something between Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman, as singer and songwriter, that we puny mortals may never be able to understand or analyze. They did brilliant things together, because Jim wrote brilliant songs, and Meat sang them brilliantly."

Allow me to rephrase. To ME, Meat is inconsequential, certainly in terms of the studio album. If we were talking about the live shows then it would a different story. I say he's inconsequential because I believe Jim could have done as good a job, if not better, then Meat. Jim's voice just sounds more raw, less contrived then Meat's

"I'm not Anti Loaf, Surfs up far surpasses the original version in my opinion, but again, this is down to
production and arrangements which bring out the most of
the song, which in turn gets the most out of Meat.

Yeah, Jim had nothing to do with the Meat Loaf version. You always have to consider that factor"

Indeed, Paul Jacobs, who if I'm not mistaken, helped Jim arrange the songs on the Neverland workshop, did a great job with surfs up and even surpasses the original.
