That's where the questions begin. Firstly, Jim wasn't involved with David because of what had happened with "Dance of the Vampires". David was Meat Loaf's ex-manager and there was a lot of bad blood between them. "Bat out of Hell 3" was announced. All of a sudden, Jim was back with David and we ultimately wound up with the album that was TMIL. Yeah, hmmm... Then there's the story about Meat Loaf's manager offering Jim the biggest producer's contract in the history of rock music and Jim turned it down, probably because it said Peter Mokran would be in charge of the vocals. Jim's songs are his children, remember. Or it was something else to do with Meat Loaf owning a certain amount of the rights to "Bat", bla bla... And then there were the health problems. Meat Loaf told me on his forum in a private message that Jim needed therapy to play the piano again, which was going to take six months, which in Meat's estimation would be a year. And he didn't think he'd be able to perform in 5 years, and he couldn't wait. He had to move forward. Personally, I think he should have just cancelled. It would have been much better if the album didn't exist at all, and, you know, "Two out of three ain't bad..." ;-) It was a lot of things. We may only hear the complete story later on in our lives when all these people are dead. > I don't doubt it was his INTENTION to have all new stuff. > Whether it would have ended that way, who knows. > > But like I say, you could just about piece an album > together with the songs we DO have, much less the extra > titles we haven't heard yet.
