| The German fans want to hear the songs in English, and the English fans want to hear the songs in German, hahaha. Maybe they should do a special night where the casts travel from Oberhausen to London and vice-versa! And - even though you're not on Facebook, bookmark the Rockman page. You don't need to log in to Facebook to read it, you can view it like a normal website. There are also little videos to watch / listen to and all sorts. https://www.facebook.com/JSRockman/ News summary :- * North American tour of Bat Out Of Hell The Musical has started in Toronto, tours around the US through to mid 2019. Latest dates added: Las Vegas (The Venetian hotel) for Christmas 2018 and New York (New York City Center Theatre) for summer 2019. * Bat is closing in London on 5th January 2019. :( They're doing a special sing-a-long show on Halloween. * German Bat opens in a few days from now. Previews open 2nd Nov - 7th Nov (and a 20% discount is available from Oberhausen information in the station and centro). * Tanz Der Vampire just opened again in Berlin. * Promo videos for German bat: BAT OUT OF HELL - Das Musical - Die dt. Version von "It's all coming back to me" Wo tut mir der Schmerz am meisten weh (What Part Of My Body Hurts The Most) - Willemijn Verkaik / Alex Melcher | |

| Oh - I forgot to add a bit more about the North American tour version of Bat Out Of Hell the Musical. The North American version of the show is different from UK and Germany - there's no "In The Land Of The Pig" (probably because the touring set doesn't allow for a cage) and there's no pool of water in the set either. It's also got a smaller cast (not quite as many ensemble characters). | |

> The German fans want to hear the songs in English, and the > English fans want to hear the songs in German, hahaha. > Thanks for a the links... Yeah, my heart bleeds a little bit because I know Jim's unfinished lyrics for TANZ and the finished german version and while the german lyrics are as good as they can possibly be, they still lack the essence of Jim's writing. For example: I've been waiting for you since you've been born I watch you secretly, but not for long And since I Know all your dreams I understand what you need And when I call you, you must go where I lead Your dreams are so hungry, it's time now to feed. The literal translation of the german lyrics are: All those years I've just been an idea in your head Now you seek me out and have longing for me Look forward There's just a small step seperating us When I call you, you can't help but to come Driven by dreams and hungry for happiness And there it is. While in Jim's version Sarah and Von Krolock have an understanding. He want to give her what she wants. Literaly sex and within the vampire metaphor he wants to feast on her. But Von Krolock doesn't have happiness to offer. He is a vampire. It still works, but Jim's version is just magnitudes better still. Same goes for Confessions: The skys were pure and the fields were green The fading summer sixteen seventeen The first time I ever drew blood She was such beautiful and innocent child Das Korn war golden und der Himmel klar Sechzenhundertsiebzehn als es Sommer war Wir lagen im flüsternden Gras Ihre Hand auf meiner Hand war zärtlich und weich The grain was golden and the sky was clear Sixteenhundredseventeen in the summer time We were lying in the whispering gras Her hand on mine was tender and soft Still great, but again, the sexual metaphor is gone... One of Jim's best double entendres going to waste... But maybe I'm just thinking way too much about this. | |
