NJC Incredible Shrinking Radio

Well, it is a sunday morning, and listening to the radio as I do every week at this time. It's a classic rock station in Los Angeles, which has been going through a very odd kind of change since the past year and a half....they've been taking disc jockeys off the air and putting on pre-recorded packaged programs. "Off The Deep End", "Flashback", "Rockline", "Little Stevie's Underground Garage", and plugging up airtime slots with talk shows, like something called "Spotlight On The Community". The weeekday overnights have become without spoken announcers, and called "Overnight". This, except for the weekends, so far. On the weekend, the nights which entail Saturday mornings, and Sunday mornings, there is a disc jockey, and it is the guy that I know. He has indicated to me he doesn't know if they'll be keeping him around there. But I've been listening to him there for the past seven years at the approximate same time slot, and while I take it for granted in some ways, I realize that as they plug the airwaves up with the canned programs and the lost announcer slots, he could be right. And that's a big deal to me.

Are your radio stations doing this?
