Absolutely it should be a privilege, because the seriousness of it is just too great to overlook. The problem in getting any head of steam behind this concept is the fact of the twenty-seven words of the original second amendment, which states, A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. There are many people who believe that few words are efficient communications, when these few words are obviously too few, and more would perhaps have served understanding it better. There are volumes of annotations, case histories, and opinions throughout time since its establishment, and all that has grown is the complexity of society, rather than the understanding of who shall be armed when and why, within it. > > Sadly responsibility isn't highly regarded in certain > States, just look at ridiculous lawsuites that solely > exist to garner easy money out of companies that failed to > state the obvious in warning labels. There are missing definitions in the underlying introductions into our society which is formed by the parents, teachers, clergy, and media. Definitions of such things as "Freedom" and "Responsibility". There are missing concepts, such as the differences between a largely wooded eastern frontier in the midst of a change, and a concrete bound air-trafficked high density population of mixed cultures. What we are as a nation has changed, and the amendment is fought for by people who have low tolerance for arguments....and they are the ones who get the guns. | |
