I finally saw Wuthering Heights (thanks to netflix) after having the soundtrack for years. I do like how this song is used as the theme, especially the string arrangement part. But man, I didn't like it. It's a real shitty movie, and I even like shitty movies from time to time. I was trying to think how or why Jim got involved in this project. The general story and theme seems like something up his alley. The loner musician obsessed with love. The girl trapped by love. But the delivery just falls flat. I'm not too familiar with the original, but the location on the beach in solitude made the film boring. I think it would have been better in a city, and of course with a higher budget. I also thought the use and chopping up of the Jim songs cheapened them. "More" comes across as a cut and paste very generic movie song. "Future" is used as a background track to transition between scenes. I think the songs are good it's just the way their presented. Although, I'd really like to see what Jim could do another movie. As long as he finds a good director and has some money to work with. Sorry, a little off topic, but just saw the movie and it was fresh in my mind. But yeah, "I will crumble" is a great song. I really liked "Shine" too but haven't found a recording by Hewitt. | |
