I hated the first 30 minutes or so of the first one, but then came to enjoy it. I really loved the ending because it seems to fit with today's world. Even still, many of those former Soviet countries are still trying to get on their feet economically. Since 1991 there's been a documented rise in both prostitution and crime in those Eastern bloc countries. Thinking that "entreprenuers" would resort to some sick form of tourism like this isn't at all unbelieveable for me. That made the first Hostel a good film for me. The horror of something like this being able to actually happen.
That said, I watched a fantastic horror film about two weeks ago called Feast. Seen it? I thought it was lovely (in a gory kinda way).
