| Pandora's Box is one of the first full Steinman albums I owned (yes before Bat out of Hell) back in the late 90s when I heard that All Coming Back to Me was first used on it and found a copy of the CD by chance in a used store. So I pretty much had the album memorised but haven't played it too much the past few years... Recently I picked up the remastered edition with the PAL DVD and so it's been back in my stereo on rotation--and I'm reminded of how much I like it--I think it may be overall my fave Steinman project. Although I probably slightly prefer Celine's Back to Me Now--Pandora's is close in my book and otherwise I prefer all the PB versions of tracks to the later "covers" done (The Future especially--since I've become quite used to the BOHIII version which I think just doesn't work as well at all). I've not been on this site long but from what I've read most people seem to think PB coulda done with some editing--what would people change? It is too bad the project was overall not a commercial success--I think this kinda album is the ideal way to showcase Jim's talents. Also there was one comment made about the remaster being done too "hot" (I think that's the term--the balance too high)--what's the general consensus on the remastering job? I admit in headphones at parts it does sound a bit *too* amped up losing some clarity but that could be my headphones--I haven't done a direct comparison. It is nice to have full lyrics now and the DVD portions (even though I wish there was an NTSC edition as I have to watch it on my laptop...) E | |
