I've never heard the remaster so I can't comment on it. The problem I have with the album, in general, is all of the little interludes ie. "Requiem Metal", "The Opening Of The Box" (really the second half of "The Storm" from "Bad For Good"). I'm pretty torn about the monologues because "The Want Ad" is the strangest thing I've ever heard on an album(next to "Several Species Of Small Furry Animals Gathered Together In A Cave And Grooving With A Pict" from the studio half of Pink Floyd's "Ummagumma" LOL. Check it out) Also, I'd do away with the non-Steinman stuff. I'd rather have two other Steinman tracks as opposed to "Twentieth Century Fox" and "My Little Red Book". I can see why he chose them because he's a fan of The Doors and Burt Bacharach etc. Also, there's been this huge misunderstanding that Jim wrote "The Invocation", the spoken piece that opens "Original Sin". It's really a piece from a poet named Ross McDonald. More info from the link PS. I've thought about compiling my own "Pandora's Box II" of sorts which would include Elizabeth Tryon's "Angels Arise" demo, "Is Nothing Sacred" and "I Need All The Love I Can Get" from Karine Hannah, "Braver Than We Are" from Elaine and, breaking away from the formula, "In The Land Of The Pig" with Rob Evan, "Not Allowed To Love" and with "God Has Left The Building" as the instrumental piece. Then Carl Orff's "O Fortuna!" would be the "Requiem Metal" track. I even have a cover for it:
LOL :D | |
