1. What's the point of the show at all? In the German version, Krolock seduces Sarah so he can transform her into a vampire and take over the world? Why? That's what I like about the script from November 2001. Professor Abronsius says: "The blood of an 18-year-old virgin, if offered willingly, and if drunk at the total eclipse of the moon, is more nourishing to a vampire than the blood of 500 humans taken by force." That strengthens the concept, but the speech in "Read My Apocalypse" (Gotterdammerung) justifies everything. I know it's not the German show but I prefer it, with the exception of "Invitation to the Ball", "Carpe Noctem" and the inclusion of "Is Nothing Sacred". "Death Is Such An Odd Thing" in Act II also gives it a greater irony, IMO. I also got the feeling that that script would have been completely underscored (as is most of the opening sequence in the Broadway previews for "Dance of the Vampires".)

Musical and lyrically and direction-wise and spectacle-wise, "Tanz" is magnificent, but I don't see the point in it. In "Phantom", we know it's about a person who could never be accepted. In "Sweeney", we know it's a person who wants revenge. In "Tanz", well, what is his motivation in going after Sarah and conquering the whole world? Because he's pure evil? There has to be more to it.
