The point? Krolock just wants some food for the ball and he gets it. A mere traditional vampire story, with the twist that the vampires survive and the hunters don't win. No taking over the world plot there at all. In the end they're just spreading.
Death is such an odd thing is in second act too, duet between Magda and Chagal.

If you look for a point, it's about 2 and a half hour of entertainment with good music, set and singers (well in Europe at least).
